Educational Environment & Cultural Activities
To raise the next generation of leaders, Toyama provides students with a well established educational foundation which aims to promote individual talents, creativity, and liveliness. Higher education is also geared toward meeting the human resource development demands of both local society and industries. As applicants for 「Modern Takaoka Cultural Assets」 and 「Tateyama-Kurobe Region」 as UNESCO World Heritage Sites, Toyama Prefecture supports research into the identification of cultural assets for the status of treasure important cultural asset or historical site and also supports local organizations which promote such sites. |

Gokayama Gassho-style
Houses The Gassho-style houses of Gokayama were named as Japan’s fourth World Heritage Site in 1995. People still live in these houses which are nestled deep in the mountains and noted for their thatched roofs. |
